We have all been there, we have all dreaded going into work and feeling the stress of the day before you even get out of bed. Stress and work seem like 2 verbs that go together. However, it does not have to be. There are a few things that you can do to help with your level of stress in the workplace and to once again enjoy the work and the people that you work with.
- Are you happy? This might sound like a sappy question, but you need to figure out if you are truly happy in your job and the direction it is going. If the answer is yes, keep reading. If the answer is no, start searching for a new job.
- Can you delegate? Insert Groan. I know I know, no one can do it as well as you, no one knows what you want and the excuses go on and on and on. Figure out if some of the tasks you do get done every week, month or day. Then take the time and train someone to handle those tasks. While the training will take some time, in the end it will be worth it!
- Leave work at work. This can be easier said than done. However, at least on Friday night, leave work at work. Enjoy your weekend with your family and doing the things that you want so that come Monday morning you are refreshed and ready to work at your highest potential.
These steps can help to decrease the stress level that you are having a work. Remember that when stress from work boils over, it effects your spouse/significant other, your kids and friends. This can then lead to higher stress levels in those areas of your life. When you are stressed from work, your patience is lower, your kindness is lower and frankly sometimes you are just not a nice person. Work on changing how you deal with your stress so that in general your life is more enjoyable and the relationships you have, stay intact.
